The game

With my work I pose the question — where is the line between loneliness and self-sufficiency? There is an opinion that self-sufficiency should be considered as positive loneliness. There is a study by scientists from the universities of Manchester, Exeter and Brunel in collaboration with the Wellcome Collection on the topic of how people relax and it says that the five most popular types of leisure are associated with loneliness — not in the sense of feeling, but when a person is alone. The metropolis is phony and against the backdrop of this interference we are looking for time alone with ourselves. An excess of information and constant contacts with other people whom we did not choose (in transport or at work) pushes city dwellers towards self-sufficiency strategies. Night is traditionally seen as private time, which society does not claim. Thus, a nightly game of chess with oneself becomes a hymn to self-sufficiency.

I was born and work in Moscow. Participant of the main programs of the Wroclaw Biennale of Media Art WRO, The Wrong Biennale № 5 and the 1st Karelian Biennale. The works were exhibited at exhibitions at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Vadim Sidur Museum, CCA Winzavod, TsTI Fabrika, Wro Art Center, Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia, as well as during various festivals such as Ars Electronica Festival, CHEAP festival, Intervals, NUR.

In parallel with exhibition activities, I am engaged in street art, creating urban interventions in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Kaliningrad, etc.), Europe (Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Budapest, etc.) and Asia (Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Saigon, Phnom Penh, etc.).
